Abstrak

Response is an embodiment of the existence of information in communication delivered by the communicator (counselor) to the communicant (counselee). The effective communication is usually indicated by  positive response from the communicant (counselee), both are verbally (verbally) and body language (non-verbal). In providing guidance and counseling services, of course there is ongoing communication between counselor and counselee in order to achieve success from the counseling guidance service. As for the problems that arise in the process of guidance and counseling services, the counselee can not understand and receive the information given by the counselor, that the  result is misunderstanding in the interpretation of  the meaning of  information which delivered by the counselor. The purpose of this study is to find out the attention, understanding, and attitude of the counselee towards the counselor's communication in providing guidance and counseling services at Tunas Unggul Junior High School. This research uses descriptive method. This method is an approach that used to get authentic data by direct dialogue or interview with counselors directly. Where as analyzing data using a logical approach. The essence of the success of the counselee's response to the counselor's communication in guidance and counseling services  is known from counselee's attention to the counselor's communication that  shown by a head nod, eye gaze, and receive information in proses of  guidance and counseling  service that delivered by counselor. Thus the counselee's attention show us  that the counselee responded the counselor's communication. The counselee's understanding of the counselor's communication can be reflected in the counselee's refutation during the guidance and counseling process, understanding the meaning of the information conveyed by the counselor, interpretation of  verbal language (verbal) and body language (non verbal) in the counselor's self , so the counselee can accept the meaning of the message without any misunderstanding. While the counselee's attitude to the counselor's communication is quite good when the counselee accept the counselor’s communication feel comfortable and free in the process of guidance and counseling takes place both are verbally and non-verbally. From the data above, it shows that the counselee's response to the counselor's communication in providing guidance and counseling services at Tunas Unggul Junior High is reflected in the attention, understanding and attitude of acceptance in all forms of information can be received by the counselee well without any misinterpretation of the meaning of information
